A Powerful Promotional Video to Support DLSPH’s Health Mission
The Red Gate-produced promotional video traces the history of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health as well as important achievements in the nearly 90-year history of the school in promoting and spreading public health.
Red Gate’s video advances the core message of the Summit about spreading a pandemic of health through innovation and features exclusive interviews with renowned international public health leaders, including prominent school faculty, scientists, researchers and advisers. Filmed on location at the school’s state-of-the art research and educational facilities, the video showcases the significant impact of the school, which was founded in 1927 as the University of Toronto School of Hygiene and in 2013 became a faculty at the university.
As shown in the video, DLSPH has been at the forefront of the discovery and development of modern medicines, from vaccines to antibiotics and antitoxins. This included the discovery of insulin in 1921 and the development of vaccinations for many infectious diseases such as diphtheria, poliomyelitis and meningitis. In 1923, scientists of the school’s Connaught Laboratories were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for the discovery of insulin, a major medical achievement of the University of Toronto.
