Red Gate received a letter of appreciation from the Government of Ontario that applauded the company’s events and media services during the highly successful China trade mission of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne in October 2014.
The letter was signed by Premier Wynne who offered her personal thanks to Red Gate for delivering creative, first-rate event services, including a 3.5K “Run For Fun” with Canadian and Chinese students, Chinese celebrities and Canadian expats and a hugely successful social media campaign. “The Ontario Run for Fun in Shanghai was a highlight of my mission to China,” reads the Premier’s letter. “This excellent event combined the energy of young people with the support for physical activity and sport participation to promote Ontario in a truly fun and original way,” she adds.
Premier Wynne also noted Red Gate’s support in helping to organize a networking luncheon that drew more than 100 leaders from the Canadian and Chinese business communities and showcased new investment deals struck with Chinese partners.
“The luncheon organized by Red Gate and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai was a great success in promoting the Ontario-China relationship, and celebrating the contract signings between Ontario delegates and their Chinese partners,” says the Premier’s letter. “Ontario attracted $966 million in new investment by Chinese companies during the mission to China, which will result in 1,800 jobs across the province,” she adds.
“A Great Ambassador for Ontario”
Premier Wynne singled out for praise Red Gate Founder and President Dr. Mark Ceolin, noting his leadership and contributions to the Canadian business community in China, which spans more than a decade and includes serving as the founding Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and Chairman of the Canada China Business Council-Shanghai Chapter.
The letter reads in part: “As the founder of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the President of a successful media and communications company, you have been a great ambassador for Ontario, supporting relationship building, which brings great benefit to the people of Ontario and China.”
Commenting on Premier Wynne’s accolade, Dr. Ceolin said, “I’m delighted that Premier Wynne spoke so highly of Red Gate’s support for her trade mission to China.” He continued, “As a proud Windsorite, I applaud Premier Wynne’s dedication to bettering the lives of all of Ontario’s people, both here in China and at home, and Red Gate is very proud to have been a part of it.”
Red Gate Delivers First-Rate Event Services
For Premier Wynne’s trade mission to Shanghai, Red Gate organized two events on behalf of the Government of Ontario.
A “Run For Fun” event involved a 3.5K Canada-China friendship run that included Premier Wynne, more than three dozen Canadian and Chinese students from Greater Shanghai schools, Canadian expats and Chinese celebrity football players Pu Wei and Bai Lili. To execute the international goodwill run held at Jing’an Workers Stadium in downtown Shanghai, Red Gate provided the event concept, venue selection, event operations, logistics, arrangements for school and celebrity participants, media invitations, venue setup, photography, video recording and publicity materials.
Red Gate also helped to organize a more than 100-attendee networking luncheon featuring Premier Wynne and that brought together high level Ontario delegation members, industry representatives from the Ontario Science & Technology Delegation and Canadian and Chinese business leaders. Held at the historic Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai, Red Gate’s scope of services included planning the event, officiating, media, government relations, venue selection, logistics, venue setup, sound and lighting, design and production of event materials, refreshment selection, photography, video recording and reception support.
Hugely Successful Media Campaigns
To publicize the running event, Red Gate launched an engaging, three-week Chinese social media campaign.
Red Gate created the campaign from scratch, built an active following from a limited number of participants (fewer than 100) and achieved more than 4,000 total page views in two weeks.
