The 2014 annual Canada Day Beach Party, hosted as always by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, this year at the beach on the South Bund, was a fun-filled event characterized by a large crowd of spirited Canadians and their friends. Activities included a popular Watermelon Eating Contest, a Classy Caribou “Best Dressed” Contest, and “The Happy Eskimos,” an inter-cultural band that not only played Canadian cover songs but also provided the soloist for the Canadian National Anthem.
Red Gate was, as always, well-represented at this year’s event, with the company’s President, Dr. Mark Ceolin (also the founding Chairman of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai) acting as Master of Ceremonies for the duration of the event, encouraging on-stage “dance-offs” and, as usual, passing around shots of Canadian whiskey from his hometown of Windsor, Ontario.
team walked away with gold medals in the Bombardier Beach Volleyball Competition against four other Canadian corporate powerhouses, marking the first time that the team achieved such a victory!
Congratulations to the organizers of the event, to all participants, and to Canada which celebrated its 147th Birthday on July 1st!
